....an adman's Christmas

As usual I find this years John Lewis Christmas tv advert a sheer delight....beautifully filmed and great engagement with their choice of music.

Even the message is a delight...reward the inner child by giving a gift...at least that's how I interpret it.

But with such expensive gifts?

Not hard to see why John Lewis is our most middle class of department stores....grinning.

This version of Sweet Child o' Mine is by Taken By Trees.

She's got a smile that it seems to me
Reminds me of childhood memories
When everything
Was as bright as the bluest sky

Her hair reminds me of a warm safe place
Where as a child I'd hide
And pray for the thunder
And the rain
To quietly pass me by.

Oh Oh Oh, sweet child of mine.

  1. It might be a lovely advert Michael - haven't seen it - but I do try hard not to let myself be persuaded by adverts over the Christmas period - otherwise I would be bankrupt. What is the weather like over your side of the country today - is is pouring here in the Dales.

  7. Hello Michael,

Yes I saw this add for the first time a couple of nights ago, wondering who it was for. This year, more than ever, it seems necessary to try and tempt people into buying something, anything - I speak from the heart!

  8. I DO remember how Christmas used to be...and I so miss the wonderful old department stores that were in downtown Birmimgham, Al and the ones in Atlanta. Malls just do not have the magic. Let's hear it for John Lewis!
