So farewell then Sir Bobby.........

Not wishing to sound maudlin but this morning England lost one of its true Knights of the Realm after a long and dignified battle against cancer - Sir Bobby Robson, once manager of the England football team and so much besides.

Sir Bobby was indeed a true and gentle knight, quietly spoken, gifted, dry humoured and above all, a gentleman in every sense of the word......

We shall not see his like again.

  1. ALEX FERGUSON: 'In my 23 years working in England, there is not a person I would put an inch above Bobby Robson... His character was hewn out of the coal face, developed by the Durham County mining background that he came from'

    A national treasure, lost. RIP

  2. Sorry to hear you lost such a great man. May he rest in peace.

  3. I didn't know him, but it seems he is one of those unique people who stands out for all the right reasons and who has great influence over others. It is sad when the world loses such a person.

  4. Yes I agree Michael - up here in the North he was a real icon and has certainly dealt with his cancer in a remarkable way. I understand that he attended a match only last week (in a wheel chair).

  5. Yes he did Weaver, brought tears to my eyes, and to see Lady Robson, so dignified and brave.
